Tokuko TAIRA
Tokuko TAIRA was a Japanese noblewoman who lived during the Heian period. She was the daughter of Taira no Kiyomori, the most powerful man in Japan at the time. Tokuko was married to Taira no Shigemori, Kiyomori's eldest son.
Tokuko was a beautiful and intelligent woman, and she was well-respected by the court. She was also a skilled poet, and her work is still admired today.
Tokuko was a devoted wife and mother, and she was deeply saddened by the death of her husband in 1179. She also suffered greatly during the Genpei War, which saw the defeat of the Taira clan and the rise of the Minamoto clan.
Tokuko died in 1185, at the age of 36. She is remembered as a tragic figure who was caught up in the political turmoil of her time.
